Rubena Bicycle Inner Tubes
Czech-made quality with tradition since 1908 — tubes for road, MTB, trekking, city and e-bike
Rubena Bicycle Inner Tubes — Czech quality with tradition since 1908
Welcome to the portfolio of Rubena bicycle inner tubes, combining more than 115 years of rubber-manufacturing tradition with modern technology. Our history goes back to 1908, when rubber production began in Náchod. In 1929, we made the first Czechoslovak tyre, and since then our brand has become a byword for quality and reliability.
Rubena tubes are manufactured exclusively in the Czech Republic, in Náchod, which lets us maintain the highest standards of quality while supporting local industry. We don't move production overseas — not just for the quality, but also for sustainability and the environment. Local production helps us reduce our carbon footprint, shorten transport distances and use resources more efficiently.
Who are our inner tubes for?
We offer a broad range of bicycle inner tubes for every type of bike — whether you're looking for tubes for a road bike, MTB (mountain bike), trekking and city bike, gravel bike or e-bike. Our range includes classic tubes for recreational cycling, ultra-light tubes for racers, extra-rugged tubes for demanding terrain, and innovative self-sealing tubes that automatically seal smaller punctures while you ride.
Every Rubena tube is available with different valve types — AV (Auto / Schrader) for city and trekking bikes, FV (French / Presta) for road and MTB bikes, and DV (Dunlop) for classic bikes. We carry tubes in a wide range of sizes from 12.5" all the way to 29", so you'll easily find the right tube for your bike.
Rubena products carry the legacy of more than a century of experience. Our products have historically appeared on bikes under the brands Kudrnáč, Barum, Rubena and Mitas. Every product we make carries that tradition and quality forward into the modern era.
Why choose Rubena bicycle inner tubes?
Advantages you'll appreciate on every ride
Czech manufacturing in Náchod
Inner tubes are produced exclusively in the Czech Republic with a tradition dating back to 1908. The first Czechoslovak tyre was made in 1929. A guarantee of quality, precision craftsmanship and support for local industry.
Sustainability and ecology
Local production reduces our carbon footprint, shortens transport distances and ensures efficient use of resources. We don't move production overseas — quality and the environment are our priorities.
High durability
Quality materials from a rubber factory with over a century of tradition ensure long service life and puncture resistance. Fewer punctures means more time on the road and less time fixing flats.
A wide range of tubes
From classic tubes for everyday use, through ultra-light tubes for racers, all the way to self-sealing variants. Solutions for road bikes, MTB, trekking and city bikes in every common size.
All valve types
AV (Schrader) for compatibility with standard pumps, FV (French / Presta) for higher pressures on sports bikes, DV (Dunlop) for classic bikes. Maximum compatibility with every rim.
Innovative technology
Self-sealing tubes with a special sealant automatically seal smaller punctures while you ride. Extreme tubes with reinforced construction for demanding terrain. Light tubes with minimal weight for maximum performance.
Which tube to choose by bike type and riding style?
Comparison of every Rubena tube type
Each tube type is designed for a specific use. Classic tubes are the all-round choice for everyday cyclists, Light tubes are loved by racers, Extreme tubes survive the toughest terrain, and self-sealing tubes minimise the risk of punctures.
| Tube type | Valve | Best for | Extreme conditions | Puncture resistance |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Classic | AV / FV / DV | Recreational, city, road, MTB | Light use | Standard — proven quality |
| Light | FV (Presta) | Racing road, time trial, sport | Not suitable | Lower — ultra-light construction |
| Extreme | FV (Presta) | Aggressive MTB, enduro, freeride | Excellent | Very high — reinforced construction |
| Self-sealing | AV or FV | All styles, commuting, long rides | Good | Excellent — self-sealing technology |
Valve types — which to pick?
AV — Auto valve (Schrader)
The classic valve familiar from cars. Compatible with standard pumps at petrol stations. Ideal for city bikes, trekking bikes and leisure bikes. Rugged and reliable.
FV — French (Presta) valve
The thinner valve common on road and MTB bikes. Allows higher pressures, which you'll appreciate on sports bikes. Lighter construction than the AV valve. Requires a special pump head or an adapter.
DV — Dunlop valve
The traditional European valve combining the benefits of AV and FV. Common on classic and retro bikes. Easy to service — the valve core can be replaced quickly. Compatible with most pumps. Used less often today.

How to choose the right tube size?
You pick the right tube size by the size of the tyre, printed on the sidewall. The marking usually looks like:
- 28 x 1.75–2.50 (inch marking)
- 700 x 23C / 28C (French marking for road bikes)
- 27.5 x 2.10–3.00 (MTB)
- 29 x 1.75–2.45 (high-volume MTB)
The first number is the wheel diameter and the range gives the tyre width. The tube must match the wheel diameter and should cover the width of your tyre.
Frequently asked questions (FAQ)
Answers to the most common questions about Rubena bicycle inner tubes
How do I know which tube size I need?
You pick the right tube size by the size of the tyre, which is printed on the sidewall of your tyre. Look for a marking like 28 x 1.75–2.50 or 700 x 23C. The first number is the wheel diameter (in inches or millimetres) and the second number or range is the tyre width. The tube must match the wheel diameter and cover the listed tyre width range. For example, a 28 x 1.75–2.50 tube fits a 28" tyre between 1.75" and 2.50" wide.
What's the difference between AV, FV and DV valves?
AV (Auto valve / Schrader) is the most common type, the same valve as on cars. Used on city and trekking bikes — compatible with standard pumps.
FV (French valve / Presta) is thinner, used on road and MTB bikes, and allows higher pressures. Also known as the sprint valve.
DV (Dunlop valve) is the traditional European type, common on older bikes.
The valve type must match the hole in your rim.
Are self-sealing tubes really effective?
Yes! Self-sealing tubes contain a special sealant that automatically seals smaller punctures (thorns, small nails, sharp pebbles) while you ride. They won't fix larger cuts or slashes, but they dramatically reduce the risk of punctures on everyday routes. They're ideal for commuting, long rides or off-road riding where the puncture risk is higher. With them, you can keep riding without needing an immediate repair.
How long does a bicycle inner tube last?
Service life depends on how often you ride, on tyre pressure, terrain and maintenance. With proper use, a quality Rubena tube lasts 2–5 years or more. We recommend checking pressure regularly (low pressure damages the tube), avoiding riding with a puncture, and protecting the tube from sharp edges during installation. Extreme tubes are designed for the toughest conditions and have an extended service life thanks to reinforced construction.
Why pick Czech-made Rubena tubes over cheaper Asian ones?
Rubena tubes are manufactured in the Czech Republic with over 115 years of tradition and strict quality control. We use quality materials that deliver higher puncture resistance and a longer service life.
Local production means a better environmental footprint, support for Czech industry and faster service. The investment in a quality tube pays off — fewer punctures, fewer replacements and the reliability you can count on. Our tubes are used by recreational cyclists and professional racers alike.
